Distillers boil water to kill bacteria and separate
minerals and other contaminants. In carafes, water passes through a carbon
filter and/or resin to remove organic material and improve water taste and
odor. Faucet mounted filters require no counter or refrigerator space and
reduce chlorine and lead in tap water. |
Installed under your sink, these systems can reduce or eliminate lead and other contaminants and can handle larger volumes of water than countertop systems. Reverse osmosis systems can remove contaminants such as chlorine, lead, mercury, and sediment. |
Total home systems such as the EcoSystem Whole House System (WHS) provide conditioned water for household chores such as washing clothes, dishes and floors, and for showering, as well as high-quality water for drinking, cooking, making beverages and ice cubes, and mixing baby formula. |
Softeners replace hard ions, such as magnesium and calcium with softer ions, such as sodium and potassium, resulting in cleaner, softer, filtered water with less chlorine and an improved taste and odor. |
Coolers and dispensers can be used to chill previously treated water, or can be combined with filtration (including reverse osmosis) and ultraviolet sterilizers to remove bacteria, chlorine and other contaminants as well as improve water taste and odor. |
The "C" band of ultraviolet light is very efficient at killing even the most dangerous bacteria and viruses (including E. coli, coliform, cholera, legionaires, and hepatitis) found in drinking water, without any potentially harmful chemical agents. UV systems often incorporate filters to further remove sediments, chlorine, pesticides, herbicides and other organic contaminants. |
For countertop and undersink drinking water systems, sediment filters can reduce dirt, sand, sediment, rust and iron particles, taste and odor filters can reduce chlorine and improve drinking water taste and odor, and other specialty filters can remove lead and other chemical contaminants. |
